Coppedge & Tison wins 2008 CoStar Power Broker awards

Coppedge & Tison, a Charleston-based commercial real estate brokerage firm, has been selected by the CoStar Group as a CoStar Power Broker award winner for 2008.

The annual award recognizes the “best of the best” in commercial real estate brokerage by spotlighting the U.S. firms and individual brokers who closed the highest transaction volume in commercial property sales or leases for the entire year of 2008. The Charleston office of Coppedge & Tison won in the Top Leasing Firms category in the Charleston/North Charleston area.

The Greenville office of Coppedge & Tison won in the Top Leasing Firms category in the Greenville/Spartanburg area. Marcus Cornelius and Todd Younghans won individual awards in the Top Industrial Leasing Brokers category.

Charleston 's strategic port location on the Atlantic coast is fueling its growing market for warehouse and distribution space.

The total industrial space available in the city has increased more than 16% since 2005 to more 24 million square feet, yet demand continues to rise. The vacancy rate is a taut 5.8%, down from 8% in 2005, and significantly lower than the national average of 8.6%, accordingly to Property & Portfolio Research.

“Industrial is just going gangbusters,” said John Tison, President of the Charleston-based commercial real estate firm Coppedge & Tison, a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance.

Coppedge & Tison Represents Force Protection, Inc.

Ed Kercher of COPPEDGE & TISON, a Charleston-based commercial brokerage firm, exclusively represented Force Protection Industries Inc. recently in their acquisition of a 430,000 Square Foot manufacturing facility on 150 Acres in Roxboro , NC.

Force Protection plans to use the Person County facility for additional capacity for current and future products, including its new Cheetah vehicle line, which was recently featured in a Fox News Channel special report. The Cheetah will join the Cougar and Buffalo vehicles that have an unmatched record for troop safety in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2003. They expect to produce about 2,000 of the Cheetah armored vehicles out of the new plant in 2008.

Based in Ladson, Force Protection is a leader in producing the world’s most advanced mine protected vehicles that have become the gold standard for troop safety against the threat of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), land mines, and roadside bombs.

Force Protection was founded in 1997 and has become the fastest growing company in the state of South Carolina.
